Cure for the late winter/early spring blues.

'Round here people are getting a little stir crazy. It's been an especially difficult winter since we've had snow on the ground continuously since late November. Well, the videos below are a sure-fire cure for the winter blues. If they don't at least bring a smile to your face, I'd recommend seeking the help of a professional.

The first is of Henry 'playing' the piano. I can't keep from laughing every time I hear/see the first 15 seconds.


Henry is generally a very jolly little guy. However, he hasn't been much of a true laugher. Until tonight. You'll see what I mean. Enjoy.

Week 37

Late again...and the picture's not too great. It is hard to get him to just sit for a photo and look at us.

This week Henry has really started to be more interested in moving, especially when Levi is around. So far he's up on his knees and rocking or in a bear crawl stance (on feet and hands). We're excited to have him move, yet realize our lives will change a bit with a little one who can get into things.
Henry is also enjoying looking at books again (went through a phase of only wanting to eat books). He also loves turning the pages. Here he's looking at one of his favorites Brown Bear from a new angle.

Week 36

Going to sound like a broken record here, but Henry is continuing to change. Toward the end of last week (around the time this picture was taken) Henry finally kicked a pretty nasty cold. It was the same one that nearly everybody around here has had over the last couple of weeks, chest congestion and runny nose. Unfortunately, the height of his cold coincided perfectly with the weekend that he was going to be dedicated at church. This meant that we had family in town.

Well, it turns out that was the Sunday when we received yet another dose of the cold, slick, white stuff. Bad enough to cancel church. This was nice from the standpoint that Henry didn't have to be dedicated while feeling awful, but it was a bummer that the Nussbaum grandparents didn't get to see his dedication.

Henry has begun to explore his musical interests. There is a great video that goes with this picture. It will be up soon.
Starting to consider moving on his own.
Tina, Henry and I had the opportunity to do some snow shoeing over the weekend. It was beautiful hiking in over a foot or so of snow.

Week 35 - 8 months

In case you were wondering, it's still winter here. This week we broke the all time (since recorded history) record for a single winter with about 80 inches of snow so far. Not sure if this large amount of snow is the cause but it seems that most people around here are sick, sick of being trapped inside or both.

This week as been interesting as Henry's had his first run with a REAL cold. The last two days he's been coughing and sneezing with fluids running out of most of his orifices. Amazing that after fighting a cold he still is able to smile.

Indoor fun

Since it was REALLY cold here this Sunday (-7 F and felt like -30 F), we didn't go many places and just stayed in our warm house as much as possible. Here are some pictures from some of Henry's highlights of the day. He loves prunes with yogurt, prunes with oats, and just plain prunes. This was breakfast.



Henry received a "car" for Christmas from Grandma Janet and Grandpa Delmar. He can't really use it yet but loves to flip it over and play with the wheels. I decided to sit him on the car this weekend and he seems so proud and excited. Derek snapped some quick shots since I had to keep holding him otherwise he'd bounce off in excitement or push the car backwards.

Then he became fascinated with the opening in the front. What fun!!

Week 34

Finally.....we remembered to post the photo for this week on time!!

Henry enjoys helping us with the laundry. He loves to help "fold" the clothes and play with the basket.


Also, last Saturday our friend Carissa came and took some photos of Henry. He wasn't in the best of moods so there's no ear to ear grins but there are some good shots. Here are some of our favorites. Thanks Carissa!

It's still winter here!

So it snowed today. And snowed...and snowed.... All told we had about 13 inches of the white stuff. As a result, school was called off for the second Wednesday in a row. Last week it was because the wind chill was -30 F and it never got above -15 F (yes those are minus signs). Here are a few pictures of the beautiful white stuff that fell today.



Since I was home with Tina and the boys, we decided to get out of the house by taking a trip to the Co-op for groceries. This was accomplished by bundling them (15 min) packing them into a Burly bike trailer with the jogger attachment (5 min) and walking to the Co-op (15 min) where we shopped (10 min) and returned home (all the above times in reverse). Efficient use of time it was not. Interesting and kind of fun experience? Yes.

I can't say the boys enjoyed it the whole time, but they didn't seem to hate it. Here they are excited to take off.
Oh, and if you were going to ask, no they were not out exposed to the elements like that. The windshield sealed them in pretty well. So well, in fact that they were almost sweaty when we returned home.
