Big Day

Today was a pretty eventful day with a trip to the farmer's market this morning and a backyard bbq at a friend's house this evening. It feels kind of nice to be out and about after spending the last two weeks in the house. So here are a few pictures over the last couple of days. The first is just a picture of Henry with what appears to be a possessed Zoe in the background.
This second picture is of Derek with Henry in the Baby Bjorn before we went to the farmer's market. It seemd to be a pretty handy way to carry the little guy around.
The last picture is of Henry in his swing. This seems to be a pretty decent place for him to hang out when holding him just doesn't work.

Two Weeks

Well, here we are. Two weeks later.

Sorry about the shocked look on his face, this was the best picture we could get with his eyes open. Still working on my photography skills.

Growing Baby

We just returned from a doctor's visit, and in nine days Henry has gained a pound which puts him nearly 3 ounces over his birth weight in less than two weeks! For the uninitiated, the standard goal is for a baby to return to it's birth weight within 2 weeks. This is good news for new parents who don't really know how much he is actually eating. Bottom line is, he has his father's appetite.

We've also included two pictures. The first is another shot of 'tummy time,' he's still struggling to hold his head up, but I think I would too if it comprised ~50% of my body weight. The second picture is of our new babbysitter now that the grandparents are all gone. So far she does a pretty good job, but she's having a little trouble changing diapers as the velcro wraps keep sticking to her fur. In all seriousness, I was taking pictures of Henry in his tie-die onesie and Zoe just laid down next to him.

Have a great day!

Ahh rest.

Last night was a gift. We were able to get at least seven restful hours of sleep for the first time in two weeks. I'm sure that merely mentioning this means that tonight will be awful; but for us it's truly something worth celebrating.

The many faces of Henry

Here are a bunch of pictures showing Henry's expressions. Enjoy!

Grandparents and Things

Don't know how much longer we'll be able to put daily updates on the blog. Yesterday we bid farewell to grandma and grandpa Nussbaum after they had spent more than a week helping us out around the house. So we have picture with both of them before they left.

It was also great to have the Nussbaum grandparents here at the same time as grandma Wagler. Between the three of them we have enough bread and cookies to last us for a while. We've included a picture of the two grandmothers talking over the merits of a particular cookie recipe.

As a follow-up to the 'hair' post a couple of days ago, we've included a picture of Derek sporting the same hair style as Henry. Like we said before, he's a trend setter.

Fun Pictures

Yesterday our friend Carissa stopped by and snapped some really fun pictures of us with Henry. I apologize for the large files.

More Visitors and More Pictures

Yesterday evening grandma Wagler arrived from Kansas in time to celebrate Henry's 1 week birthday.

There are also some more random pictures of Henry around the house. We have one of him in his daytime 'crib'.

There are also a couple of pictures of him with his eyes open! All I can say about the hair is that Henry is a trendsetter. He's his own person and you just wait, pretty soon all the kids will be wearing their hair this way.

One Week

So at 8:02 pm this little guy will be one week old.

Hard to imagine it's been that long yet I'm not quite sure I remember what it was like without him around. I've included several pictures from the last day or so.

The first few pictures of the post are just random shots from the last 24 hours.

The fourth picture is something we'll try to repeat every week over the next few weeks so we can more easily track his growth.

The last picture is of his first lesson using a Mac. He found it so easy he fell asleep immediately.

More Pictures

Thought we'd add some more pictures this morning. We have some pictures with the grandparents and a picture of Zoe meeting Henry. So far Zoe has been absolutely amazing with the new addition.

First Bath & Family Photo

So this morning after a 'better' nights rest (this truly is a relative statement) Henry had his very first bath at home. He didn't seem to mind it too much and in return he gave his daddy a bit of a bath. Unfortunately we only have pictures of the former.

We've also included the first family photo we've taken with all of us cleaned up and at home. There will of course be more to follow.

Home

Today by early afternoon the doctors had cleared Tina and Henry to come home. So we had one final meal at the hospital (mmm....) and made the long fifteen minute journey home. We all arrived safely by 1:30.

The rest of the afternoon was spent settling into our home.

It is good to be home.

Day Two

Last night probably could have been better for dear sweet Henry and his parents. Fortunately all of the family slept well from about 4:30 am-7:30 am.

Never realized how refreshing 3 hours of sleep could seem.

Couldn't help myself, so I added another photo of the little one.

Well… he’s here.

June 14, 2007 at 8:02 pm a little 7lb 8oz boy by the name of Henry Thomas Nussbaum Wagler entered this world and joined two very overwhelmed and exhausted parents.

Without going into a lot of detail I will say that we (Tina) labored for about 24 hours and pushed for 2 hours on top of that. Finally the little guy had to be delivered via c-section. It was rough, but we're glad he's here and everybody's fine!

Waiting.....

Still waiting. Still pregnant. On the positive side, it looks like the baby will not be born on our anniversary.

Marathon

Derek ran his first marathon this Memorial Day weekend at the Mad City Marathon. He did well and actually ran faster than he had expected. Here Derek and training partner Isaac are in the not-so-fun section near the lake.

The beginning of the blog

We're trying something new here in hopes that we can keep up with it. We're still waiting on the little one to join us and when he does we'd like to keep family and friends updated with pictures. Rather than clogging your inbox, you can just check this blog from time to time to see what's going on in our lives.
