Week 43

This week's picture catches Henry climbing out of the chair and shows off his two front teeth.

Henry is taking a "swimming" class with his friend Levi.  "Swimming" as in adults carrying children in pool singing, bouncing up and down and blowing bubbles.  It is quite fun though and Henry seems to be indifferent about the situation which is better than being scared.  Due to his high body fat content he floats quite well!

I found this picture as I was looking for pictures to post.
Hmmmm...must ask Derek about this new child appropriate toy.

Spring Break

We decided to take a short vacation during Derek's spring break.  We headed to southern Illinois to stay at a cabin, hike and relax.  We had a wonderful time and enjoyed some nice 60 degree weather--which was the purpose of heading south!!

Listening to birds in the morning from our deck.

Henry really enjoyed hiking in the backpack and babbled as we looked at various things.

However, sometimes it was just too exciting and tiring to stay awake!

We did spend a lot of time relaxing at our cabin too.  We each had our favorite things at the cabin.  I liked the hot tub--Derek liked the trail for running right outside our door--Henry like all of the ceiling fans and the fireplace.

Week 42

We've had some trouble getting stuff posted recently. Here's the weekly picture from last Thursday.
Here is what Henry was trying to do most of the time we were trying to get his picture. He's really starting to get squirmy.

Week 41

This week we remembered to take the picture right before bed.  Henry was happy to be home for his week 41 picture.  See next post for details of our spring break.

Week 40

Here's this week's picture.  This isn't the all out grin like normal but more of his shy smile.  He's also started doing a scrunched up nose smile that is still not captured by the camera.  Thursday Henry had his 9 month appointment.  He is doing well, progressing normally and as we thought he is a big boy--22 lbs 11 oz and 29".  Derek and I are getting some serious weight training carrying him around!

Henry has started to enjoy looking at books more on his own.  He still likes to be read to but also loves to empty his bin of books looking that them page by page.  It's quite nice and is very fun to hear him express excitement for some of his favorites with a very subdued "gu-uu!" (two syllables)  The last two pictures are just because I liked them.

week 39

Henry was much more interested in reading his book this Thursday than he was smiling for his weekly picture.  This is the best we could get. He's not quite mobile yet in the sense of crawling on hands and knees but he's starting to explore on his own by pushing himself backwards on his belly and spinning around.  It's amazing what he can get in to--taking cookbooks off a shelf and emptying out his toy bins.  It's fun to watch him figure out how to move himself and to see what is interesting to him.

Zoe continues to amaze us.  She is so patient, gentle and loving with Henry.  he loves to touch her paws and her tail.  Henry was sitting and playing with his puzzle and Zoe just walked over with her own toy (ball) and laid down next to him.

Derek was doing yoga the other night and I was telling him that Henry does a much better up-dog position than him.  So here they are doing yoga together.

Week 38

We took this picture on Thursday but of course forgot to post it.

Henry's been busy working on his two top front teeth. (You can actually see the bottom ones in the weekly picture). This is his nice "I'm playing with my teeth/gums and not smiling" face.

I was trying to take more creative shots. Not so great but still cute!
